Hah, I should totally admit to being heavily influenced by your Mentalist meta whenever I write in this fandom. Because I am. It's a pain having to wait on episodes in the UK, because your discussions are always so shiiiiny, but I have to wait and then read them later whilst nodding vigorously and going THIS IS TRUE.
Also, I have no idea how they hooked up in this universe (except the vague feeling that Jane didn't see it coming), so if the urge strikes you, please do pastiche away!
Totally agree about the pattern of escalation between Jane and Red John. Their disturbing symbiosis involves a lot of building one another up to be worth trying to tear down.
