That essay would be interesting reading, if you're ever struck by the urge to write it.
Its interesting, the way Harry processes things, because it's not just emotional stuff, it can be random plot points (uh, that I won't give an example for because I haven't put any spoiler warnings on this post), I think it's Susan that says he works everything out eventually, it just takes him a while.
It's useful for Butcher, because it provides an in-text justification for revisiting and elaborating on things that he might not have fully utilised the first time round. Like the cuffs supposedly made by Nicodemus that Harry later decides are of faerie make, which fits the demands of a later plot better. I'm always so trusting with unreliable narrators though, when they backtrack later in the story I'm like "Wait, what, no...you *said*!"
