I had a cynical moment of wondering if he *did* realise this, hence the change in tone? It was a bit jarring. But I'm totally capable of believing that this is because Marcone realised Harry was Freaking Out and Not In The Mood, so he gave him a little distance and the opportunity to throw his weight around a little.
