Hooray, Hendricks. I love a good Hendricks like mad, and yours rides that loyal-to-a-fault, smarter-than-he-looks theme fabulously. The idea of an autonomous Hendricks. Rock. And Harry, who sets his worldview rather sharply in most ways, running smack into the concept like it's a solid wall is great.
Speaking of worldview and brick walls, "Right. I'm not sure how to say it, because you're weird about stuff like this, and I don't want to offend your delicate sensibilities." Harry's lucky to have the friends he does, I say, because "weird about this" is a remarkably friendly but totally honest way of saying it. Boy's got his Issues.
I really liked how the Thomas-as-proof-of-concept played out, and had a bit of an oh HARRY moment here: "You really, really aren't", he replied. "You notice guys Harry. I feel you noticing guys."
"Ugh!" I yelped, offended.
He takes information about himself and shoves it down to his process-later[-and-this-time-when-drinking] level and spends his offense on what matters. Don't EAT your brother (and don't eat people without their consent), Thomas. That's icky. (And as much as Harry hams up the homophobic stereotypes when he's Playing Gay, not being "unswervingly heterosexual" isn't to him here, icky that is, and it's very sweet.) And throw in an extra-fond for pre-drama Thomas rolling with it and knowing exactly what Harry means.
Your Marcone rang particularly true here "I advise you not to laugh at me." He said, voice cold and brittle and here "My apologies." Marcone said. It was clear he wasn't talking to me. Oh John. It's always nice to see him with people who matter.
And hooray for the ever wonderful bitchy-banter-fighty-flirt.
