Oh God. I can actually see him with a puppy, and am tempted to write this as somehow resolving all his issues. He just needs a hug. Actually, I think the writers already gave him a puppy in the form of Alan in series 2.
And yeah, he can't beat Robin, especially when he fails to realise Robin judges "success" by an entirely different set of values from Guy's.
